To raise small funding to help my preparations and attendance for the bobsleigh qualification in South Korea
I got selected under an Olympic access to winter sports programme to have the opportunity to be selected to be a winter sports athlete. Initially they test our physical excellence, and due to my cycling racing and experience I was very strong and I managed to achieve very good results. They allocated me to bobsleigh based on this and my height, weight and strength they have said I am most suited to Bobsleigh. The programme then invited me for two further training camps in Pyeongchang, South Korea. The training has been a very amazing and tough experience - they push our limits physically and also teach us many things about the sport of Bobsleigh. Bobsleigh is also a very cold sport!
I have been selected to attend a qualification and selection competition in November 2023. My travel and accommodation on the trip is covered by the organisers but it is very challenging for me to prepare here in Sierra Leone for the qualification. I am trying to raise some small funding to help me access some strength and fitness equipment, some gym weights, to make sure I am eating well during training. I will also use a small amount of money to help me travel to Freetown and the airport as they do not help us with these extra costs and they do not help us with pocket money on the trip.
I come from a very poor family, and am supported by a charity to go to vocational school for now. I am hard working and dedicated and this really is an amazing opportunity I have been offered. Please anything you can support me with will be very much appreciated, I promise I will spend it wisely and use it well for my training.
Thank you,
Abu Sheik
