Sheffield Chess & Education Centre

We're passionate about mental and physical development, and we're going to offer something new. An educational cafe designed to help people exercise their minds and bodies in a relaxing space. First and foremost, we're going to be a venue where chess takes place, seven days a week.

It's been decades since Sheffield had anywhere you could go to play chess, any day of the week. Chess is booming at the moment, and there are lots of people wanting to learn. We'll teach them. We have Accredited Coaches at all Levels from Beginner to International working with us.

But that's not all: we're also hoping to make use of the premises for a complete range of activities. We're planning a modular approach: starting with the basics, and adding new things in gradually in order to benefit the whole community. That could be anything and everything. For illustrative purposes, here are just a few of the things we're looking at:

• Working together with a local gym, various exercise classes (details TBC)
• "Living well on a budget" financial planning courses (free of charge, of course)
• Eventually we're hoping to run holiday clubs for children, together with the gym
• Learn how to make your own jewellery (and take home what you've made to keep forever with quality brand-name crystals)
• Artificial Intelligence is in the news a lot at the moment. Learn what all the hype is really all about!
• Last-minute GCSE Maths revision classes for anyone worried about the future
• A 'knit and natter' social group

There are many, many more things we could do. A number of hard-working dedicated volunteers are committed to this project. 

But first, we need a home. And to get a home, we need money. That's where you come in. Please help us to achieve our goal!
