Aim

To complete a large-format sheet press that will enable the production of new Plastic Strata artworks from recycled plastic waste.

I’m a Scotland-based artist and designer working under DOBA Studio, where I explore recycled plastic as a material for art, craft, and functional objects. My work focuses on material-led processes and self-built tools, transforming local plastic waste into bold visual works known as Plastic Strata.

Over the past year, I’ve been developing a large-format sheet press that will allow me to produce bigger, more ambitious Plastic Strata works. The press was built collaboratively by a small team of three friends, with two collaborators travelling from Warsaw to work together in Edinburgh. The main welded structure has been completed at Edinburgh Hacklab, based at Summerhall.

This campaign focuses on the final stage of the build: essential components, finishing, and safety elements needed to make the press fully operational.

Completing this press will unlock a new scale in my practice, enabling the production of wall-based artworks, sculptural elements, and future exhibitions. It will also support workshops and open studio activity, allowing the public to engage directly with recycled plastic as a creative material and better understand the processes behind the work.
