I am raising funds to pay some collaborators to help finish my stop-motion animation

by Gordon Craig in Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom

 New stretch target

The film will be entered into festivals. Some of these have entry fees. Additional funds can help go to cover some of these. Until the festivals are out the way, I will not be able to make the film public. So if you want to see it sooner, you'll need to get the digital download perk (which may be a Vimeo link, depending on which will work best).

Also, I have a lot of images to clean up. Hundreds of photos need the rigging and supports, that are there to hold puppets and items in place, painted out in Photoshop. Any extra funds raised could be used to pay someone to help me with that epic task.

She Climbs Higher

In this animated short, we follow a girl who has two passions in her life: numbers and circus. Not the circus with clowns and jugglers. Aerial circus, with people performing amazing feats on silks, hoops, ropes and trapeze. We see how she combines these two passions in her mind as she does her homework, imagining the problems as someone flying through the air on a trapeze or hanging from a silk in a seemingly physics-defying shape.

About Me

Hi, I’m Gordon and am building my career as a freelance stop-motion animator. I work part time and have been making the sets and puppets, and animating them in whatever free time I can find. Here is my animation showreel:

The Film

I have been working on this project for over a year now. Most of the filming has been done and the end is in sight. I just need a little help to get it over the finish line.

I have got this far with the help of my collaborator, Lauren who knows all of the circus side of things, but I now need to bring on another couple of collaborators to make this the amazing film it has the potential to be.

First, there’s Dominika who is an awesome animator that will make the remaining 2D, hand-drawn sections look fantastic.

Next there’s the Scottish Poet, Miss PunnyPennie (@Lenniesaurus) who is going to bring her talent for performing verse to the task of making the voiceover really hit home.

The Ask

I want to make sure that all of my collaborators get paid a fair amount for their work on this project. In these difficult times when work in certain fields is hard to come by, I am keen to both pay and promote my fellow creators. If you feel this too, if you want to help promote STEM subjects, especially to girls, and if you want to see some awesome animation, please consider contributing to this crowdfunder. Thank you
