St Hilda's College Boat Club will be 'erging' (rowing on a rowing machine) for 24 hours straight to raise funds for the refurbishment of our women's second boat.
All donations up to the first £1500 will be matched!
After a large intake of new rowers this year, it has become clear that our second women's boat is in a less-than-ideal state for a crew with such potential. The novice women, who primarily use this boat, last term triumphed over all competing clubs to win the Nephthys Novice Regatta, and also placed third in the term's major inter-collegiate novice regatta.
As we look forward to Torpids and Summer VIIIs, we want to make sure that our second women's crew have the best chance of continuing this success streak and are not held back by their equipment. As such, refurbishing the boat will return it to a 'like-new' condition through being deep-cleaned and having any minor damages repaired.
St Hilda's College Boat Club has a proud history of pioneering women's rowing in Oxford. Now is your chance to help carry this legacy forwards by ensuring that we are able to provide all St Hilda's women with the best possible rowing experience and chance at success.

The total cost of refurbishment is ~£3000 and we are hoping to raise at least 20% through this fundraiser, if not more. Any money raised beyond the cost of refurbishment could be used for buying new sliders, seats, shoes, etc.

Watch our attempt
Staged in the recently-built tower of St Hilda's College and set against the grand backdrop of Oxford's dreaming spires, the ergathon will be a spectacle worth witnessing! We will begin at 6pm on Friday 27th January and end one day later at 6pm on the 28th. The ergathon will be live-streamed as much as possible throughout the 24 hours on our Facebook page here.
Who are we?
St Hilda's College Boat Club pioneered women's rowing in 20th century Oxford. It was SHCBC women who first rowed on the Isis and entered the famous Summer VIIIs bumps races.
Today we have a strong male and female side, both of which have recently won 'blades'. We are not the richest of boat clubs so rely on the generosity of our alumni and on college for funding to stay competitive against the other Oxford boat clubs.

Other fundraising
We have recently purchased a set of new blades which will be used by one of our first boats (the men's and women's captains are currently making impassioned cases for why their respective sides should have them!) and are available to be sponsored for £100/blade.
