On Sun 19th Feb 2023, we will both be running our first marathon in Seville. Since our running backgrounds are more suited to 5-10Ks, this will be our toughest running challenge yet with it being a 26 mile run. However, we want to push ourselves and do so on behalf of a worthwhile cause.
We are aiming to raise funds for Sale United Powerchair Football Club, a small charity run by parent/carer volunteers for players with a range of physical disabilities, enabling them to participate in a competitive team sport. There are currently 3 teams competing in regional and national leagues, and there is a waiting list for new players hoping to join the club.
Any money raised will go towards day to day running costs and equipment for the club. A typical sports wheelchair costs between £5-10,000 and requires adaptions specific to player’s needs. Some of the players own their own chairs, but others use club owned chairs, which they need to share during training sessions as they are currently in short supply.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated, whatever the amount.
