As a grassroots Watersports Club our River Jetties are critical to provide safe access to the water. We need to replace the South Jetty.

Severn Sailing
Club is a local community, not for profit club, situated on the river Avon near the village of Bredon’s Norton on the Worcestershire / Gloucestershire border. Our mission is to provide and promote affordable access for watersports supported by the club (i.e. dinghy sailing, canoeing and paddleboarding), in a safe, fun and inclusive way.

We provide a RYA (Royal Yachting Association) recognised training scheme for members and non-members. We have affiliations with other local organisations such as the Tewkesbury District Scouts. We have welcomed local community groups, including hosting a Ukrainian refugee day. We support local charities and recently hosted a fund raising visit from Shelterbox - a Disaster Relief Charity.

The club offers
affordable access to individuals, families and groups, including those with limited means, to enjoy sailing and paddling on the river in a safe inclusive environment. We have members in the area from Birmingham down to Malvern, Teweksbury, and Cheltenham.
We recognise the benefit that the 2022 Commonwealth Games brought Nationally and to the community in the Greater Birmingham area. We believe that dinghy sailing, kayaking and paddleboarding have a part to play in promoting health and well being by encouraging people to spend time outdoors.
Our primary facilities are the clubhouse and our river jetties that provide safe access to the river. The core structure of the South Jetty is over 40 years old. In 2021 the club spent £10,000, plus £20,000 grant funding from Sport England, to replace our flood damaged North Jetty. We are now in desperate need to replace the South Jetty, which has been deemed unsafe. Unfortunately, the cost of building materials has soared in the last few years and we are now facing a bill of over £36000 to replace our shorter South Jetty. To-date we have been unable to secure any grants to help offset this cost.
In addition, following a recent Accessibility Survey, we have identified that the steps providing access to our raised clubhouse are at the end of their life and require replacement.

In this photo you can see the old South Jetty in the foreground and the new North Jetty in the background.
Whilst the club has built up some funds, to go towards this project, we are not in a position to fully fund this ourselves. We need to raise an additional £10,000 via Crowdfunding to be able to replace the South Jetty. We would be hugely grateful for any donations to help us replace our South Jetty and enable us to continue to provide safe and affordable access for watersports on the river.
We are asking businesses both local and national, associated with the club and its activities, for help.
We are asking for substantial private donations.
Sponsor a metre of new jetty for £50 (the jetty is 30m long).
Sponsor a tyre to protect the front of the new jetty from impact for £15 (we need 100).
We are holding a fund raising Summer Ball for members and their guests. The tickets are £35 each and will include a £10 donation to the crowdfunding project.
Sport England - Places and Spaces has provided £3,000 of match funding
