Aim

A group of traders are legally challenging TFL, acting on behalf of their landlord (LUL), to replace them by Seven Sisters temporary market.

Seven Sister's Ward Corner Site Legal Fund

245 TO 249 TOTTENHAM HIGH ROAD.         MULTICULTURAL CENTRE LTD

For years, Transport for London, acting on behalf of London Underground Limited (LUL), have been trying to redevelop the Ward's Corner Site comprising the 'Wards Corner' of the Historic Department Store Building (empty during the past half century), and on the Ground Floor: the 'Seven Sisters Market', 'El Pueblito Paisa' (AKA 'Latin Village') an1653069701_screenshot_20220520-190112_whatsapp.jpgd the Tottenham Multicultural Centre, without the consensus and regard to the wishes of the marginalised people trading on site.

LUL previously negotiated for Grainger, a property developer, to demolish the market, a cultural hub, as well as the historic Wards Corner building. They wanted to replace it with 190 private flats with no affordable housing provision. These plans would have displaced a large portion of the Latin American community and other marginalised Black and Brown traders and workers.

Despite Grainger recently pulling out of these plans, TFL has forcibly removing the remaining traders within the Wards Corner Site. A few traders are fighting back against TFL's attempts to displace them but need your help. TFL has claimed they will be setting up a temporary market in their actual premises, without guarantee that all traders  will be returning to the market to continue trading. This will put their financial security and their family livelihoods at risk.

TFL have pursued intimidation tactics, such as hiring private security to forcibly remove traders belongings and evict them in September 2021 and March and May 2022. Six traders have been forced out of the premises during the early hours of day and are unable to continue trading from their premises.

These traders need your help to continue the fight against TFL's unjust actions.
