Serendipity Creatives have been founded since 2018. We have recently achieved Charitable status (reg. no. 1201197). We are growing and number and strength, and rely on the goodwill of local funders to provide a safe space with yummy refreshments.
Serendipity was born from my own experience of loneliness and isolation through mental health. Creativity and togetherness has been my own salvation.
At Serendipity (now also a NHS prescriptive service) we are working to build better and stronger communities across Kirklees and beyond.
Our Creative Writing workshops are fun and friendly, and we encourage engagement through talking. We have seen the results of progress through our 200+ service users, and now we are expanding our activities to include Script Writing, Book Clubs, an Autism Group, a Man's Club, Women's Groups, litter pickers Groups, and more.
We are actively involved with other Organisations such as the Jo Cox Foundation, the Crescent CIC, the University of Huddersfield, the Huddersfield Literature Festival, Batley Poets, a number of local Magaines/Newspapers and so much more.
Last year we published an Anthologywriten by our members and we are currently working on our second book.
Serendipity for many, is a life line.
We are also a signposting organisation, so if we can help our members, we can help them get the help and advice they need.
We have developed a good reputation in Kirjlees and have some amazing relationships with funders and other organisations, but in order to survive we need continual funding. Despite continual funding bids we are currently struggling to expand and undertake projects that are being requested of us, we currently run on a voluntary basis with myself and another volunteer.
Please check out our Facebook page and we are currently updating our website.
We always welcome everyone to come along and meet us, enjoy a brew and a chat, if it's not for you, you might know someone who would benefit from our workshops.
We are very passionate about expanding our services so more people can benefit from them. And we are always looking for volunteers and donars to support us.
Thank you for taking the time to check us out and thank you for your support.
