MYSENSAbility needs your support to continue offering vital Parent Advocacy services to families and children with Special Educational Needs

Having a child with special needs can indeed be an overwhelming journey, often filled with unexpected challenges and a whirlwind of emotions that can leave parents feeling disoriented and alone. My name is Gaynor, and I wholeheartedly understand this experience, as I have walked this path myself. My son, Harrison, was diagnosed with autism shortly after his second birthday, a moment that forever altered the course of our lives and introduced us to a world filled with both obstacles and profound insights.

In those early days following Harrison's diagnosis, I experienced a cacophony of confusion and fear. The uncertainty loomed large, casting shadows over what I thought I knew about parenting and the expectations I had for my child. With limited knowledge about autism and no readily available support, I often felt like I was navigating uncharted waters without a map. This sense of isolation was palpable; I struggled to find connections with others who understood the unique challenges of raising a child with special needs. The emotional toll was significant, and there were days when the weight of it all felt almost unbearable.

However, amidst the confusion, I found a spark of determination. I realized that I had to take the reins of our journey, seeking out information, resources, and support wherever I could. It was this relentless pursuit that eventually led me to create MYSENSability, an initiative that emerged from my personal battles and my deep desire to help others facing similar circumstances. Through MYSENSability, I aim to be a guiding voice for parents who find themselves in the same overwhelming situation I once did.

My mission is to help parents access the resources and support they need while also working to break down the barriers that can seem insurmountable. I strive to offer a platform where families can connect, share their experiences, and find solace in knowing they are not alone. Together, we can cultivate a community built on understanding, compassion, and shared knowledge.

Our journey with Harrison has been a testament to the incredible power of love and resilience. Each step we take, though often fraught with difficulties, is underscored by the unwavering bond we share as a family. I am committed to ensuring that no parent feels isolated in their quest for understanding and advocating for their child's needs. By sharing our story and creating a supportive network through MYSENSability, I hope to inspire others to forge their paths, equipped with knowledge, confidence, and the assurance that they are not alone in this journey.
