Aim

Our aim to rebuild the membership of club after the COVID restrictions and lockdown rules. Rebuild the community that surrounds the sport

SOUTH ESSEX GYMNASTICS CLUB Ltd. 

What are we raising money for?

The aim of our project is to raise funds to rebuild our membership at both of South Essex Gymnastics Club sites, Basildon Sporting Village and also our site at Eversley Leisure centre whilst our doors are closed, this money will help towards running costs of the building and coaches wages whilst on furlough leave.

With the view of opening up on the 12th April this still leave us working on limited spacing to abide by social distancing ruling. Our team of dedicated coaches work tirelessly to provide quality coaching creating an environment where gymnasts can come enjoy their sport and be safe at this very uncertain time.

About SEGC

Our club caters for all ages from baby gym through preschool, after school recreational classes, squad groups right the way through to our elite programme training for Olympic Games.

SEGC's work within the community ranges from running charity fundraisers and cakes sales for MIND and Comic Relief to running sessions alongside Sports for confidence working with vulnerable adults and children and providing quality coaching at all stages of life. Prior to the COVID outbreak SEGC provided discounts for Young carers, Foster carer groups and also discounted pre school sessions with the Essex Pass.

South Essex prides itself on inclusivity and sport for all, and with the outbreak it has meant our 'safe places' provided to vulnerable adults and family has had to close. Coaches have been volunteering time in order to keep moral high and interest in Gymnastics going through the lockdowns.

South Essex Gymnastics Club- Work in the community

South Essex Gymnastics Club have worked within the community fundraising for charities like MIND and Comic relief. SEGC have worked alongside Basildon council and Essex County Council to provide subsidized fees for families with lower income and also with adoption families in and around Essex. 

Gymnastics for al is one of the main points SEGC wants to provide in their classes. The club has a very strong disability discipline right he way through from Pre school additional learning right the way through to vulnerable adults working alongside Sports for Confidence. 

SEGC have worked with local primary schools providing weekly sessions to schools  in the Basildon area promoting sport and physical movement from a young age. During the lockdown period coaches have continued this link with virtual P.E lessons to keep children active and help improve their mental health.

What will the money be used for?

• Cover the additional costs incurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
• Support families and Gymnasts who are finding it hard during this time.
• Develop our coaches and volunteers so they are best placed to support our Gymnasts.
• Pay our bills for hall hire and coaching staff.
• Ensure the club is here for future generations of Gymnasts and families in the region.

Fundraising through a pandemic
