Aim

Calling all art lovers: I'm seeking funding to build an extraordinary piece of ceramic artwork to go on display in February 2024.

'See Me, Hear Me, Touch Me' will invite the viewer into a world of playful body representation and explore the conversation around trust, desire and the female body.

The piece will consist of 3 giant totem poles each stacked with biomorphic pieces of ceramic art that celebrate the female form. Each section will be thrown on the potter's wheel and manipulated while wet to resemble the curves and contours of the body.

With this piece I want to push the boundaries of sculpting with components that are thrown on the wheel. The scale and configuration will take my ceramic practice to a new level.

The piece will be made entirely from stoneware clay and decorated with Emily's layered glaze techniques. The piece will take around 4 months to complete and will be installed at Somerset House in London for Collect Art Fair 2024.

Funds are more limited than ever to support up-and-coming artists in making large scale projects so I have decided to try and crowd fund for this piece. Please pledge your support with a donation and in return for your kindness I will gift the following:

  • £50 = mug
  • £100 = head or body vase
  • £200 = large head or body vase

All gifts will be completed by June 2024.

The money raised will go towards:

  • 250kg of stoneware clay
  • Glazing materials
  • Multiple kiln firings
  • A metal support structure
  • Van hire to transport sculpture
  • Entry fee to Collect Art Fair

🙏 Please donate and share this funding request with any friends, family or colleagues who may be able to help.

All the best,

Emily

In my work, I celebrate the versatility of clay and the journey of the maker. I explore body perception and the ancient connection between clay and womanhood; from early goddess figures to the anthropomorphic qualities of the vessel. My inspiration comes from my background in social anthropology and interest in prehistoric and modernist sculpture.
