Aim
The secret’s out, and now the Secret Bakery Harrogate are seeking deck ovens to help us continue to grow!
Hello Potential Secret Bakery Supporters!
The Secret Bakery is on a mission to create real bread with no additives, preservatives or flour improvers. As well as doing our bit for reducing plastic and reducing food waste, we’re also just simply passionate about making great bread and building community!
We’re a small local business that is proud of being small and local. Set up by local Harrogate residents raising a family in the town, we wanted to do something that did some good in the community and helped contribute to the exciting food culture in our local area.
Our journey started in June 2016 when Liz started making bread at home and selling it to her neighbours. As the queues down the street grew, so did the passion and we’ve not only developed and rediscovered some innovative ways to successfully make delicious artisan bread, but also had our first taste of the fun and challenge of creating a new local venture. In January,we moved into our first commercial premises. Thanks to our fans, amazing customers and the support from local businesses, we have had a great first 6 months!
However, we are already out of space in our ovens. We are currently using domestic ovens and now it’s time to invest in 2 new small deck ovens (we are limited by our electricity supply as to which ovens we can go for!).
And that's where your wonderful support comes in!
Unfortunately, being small and being local means we’re not made of money. After a quick look down the back of the sofa, all we found were crumbs, which is a little ironic after all!
We’ve been blown away by the level of support we’ve had from the community and businesses both in Harrogate and the surrounding areas, so we’re turning to you, a lovely (and very good looking may I say) crowdfunding community to help keep our venture growing.
The money raised by this effort will go into purchasing 2 ovens and fitting them. This will have two benefits - baking bread on stone will improve the rise and texture of the bread and it will, of course, allow us to bake more scrumptious bread!
If we get into the heady heights of over-funding, we’ll also set about doing something to create more space in our busy cafe (currently 2 tables).
What’s in it for you?
As well as the warm, fuzzy feeling of helping a small local business make more delicious, healthy bread that reduces food waste, in return for your pledges, we are offering a range of great rewards.
