Who are we?
SEAS THE DAY: Join Our Great Pacific Escapade
We are Seas The Day, an all-female team attempting to become the first crew to row 8,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean nonstop and unsupported.
Leaving from Peru, South America in April 2025, the three of us - Miriam, Lottie and Jess - will row west continually until reaching the coast of Australia.
Following a strict shift pattern of rowing through the day and night, the voyage could take up to six months and if all goes to plan we will break several world records in the process. When not rowing, we’ll be fixing parts on the boat, catching short periods of rest in the cabin, or eating, requiring around 5,000 calories a day to fuel.
To give context to our, admittedly ambitious, attempt, more people have walked in space than have rowed across the Pacific Ocean.
Challenges will include coping with 30-foot plus waves, dealing with blisters and salt sores, and crossing shipping lanes. As for the other highlights, we also expect to encounter dolphins, sharks, whales and other marine life.
In a series of firsts, we will attempt to become…
- The youngest team to row the full Pacific Ocean
- The first team to row the full Pacific Ocean nonstop and unsupported
- The first trio to row the full Pacific Ocean
Why are we taking on this challenge?
Fostering empowerment. We aim to inspire everyone, but as an all-female team, hope to show women of all ages that there are no limits to their ability to achieve no matter how tough the obstacles or challenges.
Environmental stewardship. We are striving to minimise our environmental footprint by collaborating with sustainable brands who share our values. Additionally, we want this challenge to serve as a platform for education on climate action.
Breaking new boundaries. This is a unique feat and we are excited to show what a team of women prepared to apply themselves to a daunting task with a stubborn mindset to succeed can achieve.
