Aim: We believe EVERYBODY should be able to REACH THE BEACH. We aim to build a boardwalk over the shingle to create access for all.
UPDATE: Due to direct donations we are now looking to raise £10,000 (not £28,000). Please read update two - Thank you.
Shingle beaches are a barrier for those with limited mobility, disabilities or parents pushing a buggy. In East Preston, West Sussex, this means the beach is not accessible to many and we want to change that.
Planning permission has been granted to install a boardwalk at the end of Sea Road. It will start at the bollards, hug the right verge, and then turn 30 degrees towards the sea, with a 10 x 3m platform at the end (above the high tide mark). You can see an 'artists' impression below, and how it will link the village to the beach.
The aim is to build the boardwalk in Autumn / Winter 2024. To do that we need your help to raise the funds. The materials alone are £28,000.
