The more we can raise the bigger and better mobile studio we can get, and the can make sure its more suitable for what we're trying to do in supporting broadcast radio in scouting.
We are Scout Radio the national broadcast radio team for the Scout Association, we exist to;
- Provide and support young people in Scouting doing broadcast radio
- Provide radio stations and broadcast activities at Scouting events around the country
- Support the promotion of Scouting on the radio and in the media
For the last 5 years we have been lucky enough to provide our broadcast radio stations and activities with our portable studio, inside our well known and much loved caravan. Our caravan was provided to us by Oxfordshire Scouts when we attended OxonJam in 2016. After a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to renovate it, we installed a fully functioning mobile studio inside. Prior to the caravan we were having to rig and de-rig our studio at every event, but a permanent setup inside the caravan gave us more flexibility and allowed us to attend more events, supporting more young people in broadcast media.
After thousands of miles traveled up and down the country and hundreds of young people getting to experience live radio inside it, our caravan is now starting to show its age, and we are looking for a replacement that will offer us the same great mobility and flexibility.
We are now fundraising for this replacement, with a view to finding something that will last us even longer, and provide us with a more permanent mobile studio to take to events. If you’ve seen us at an event before, you will know just how much interest our mobile studio gets, and how much young people and adults alike enjoy being part of the radio we provide.
