LET'S START 2024 BY COMING TOGETHER AND MAKING A DIFFERENCE.
We're SO excited to partner again with Northern Film Orchestra and In Place of War to bring you Score Relief 2024, our third iteration of this life-changing opportunity.
COMMUNITY | CREATIVITY | CHANGE
Score Relief 2024 is now closed for entries but we still need your support! While the judges work through the amazing entries, if you can, consider supporting our voluntary fundraiser for IN PLACE OF WAR, a fantastic organisation that we're partnering with for the second time?
They, like us, are a truly global organisation and they use creativity in places of conflict as a tool for positive change, enabling grassroots change-makers in music, and across the arts, to transform a culture of violence and suffering into hope, opportunity and freedom.
We think that's pretty beautiful!
THE CONTEST
ALL PARTICIPANTS WILL BE INCLUDED IN OUR 'BONUS' PRIZE-DRAW AT THE END OF THE CONTEST, WITH A CHANCE TO WIN FROM A VARIETY OF PRIZES PROVIDED BY GENEROUS PARTNERS.
Previously our amazing community have raised over $20,000 for good causes through Score Relief but we believe we can beat* that this year! Will you help us?
Composers around the world were able to take part in Score Relief 2024 through January 2024, by simply downloading our special un-scored version of the fantastic Wing It! animation, by Blender Foundation, from our library, for free, and creating an original score! The Overall Winner will get their score performed and recorded by the stunning Northern Film Orchestra, at the award-winning Stoller Hall in Manchester England in April 2024. Many of the entries can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/hashtag/scorerelief2024. For the first time, four Runners Up will also be awarded recording sessions for material of their choice. Announcements of winners, prizes, opportunities and more will be shared on our YouTube channel through February and beyond.
The download pack, for the first time, included a spotting sheet, tips from the orchestra and more. The bundle is still available from our library, free for members.
There was no entry fee for Score Relief 2024.
*ABOUT THE CHARITY PARTNERSHIP
This time we are supporting IPOW's 'Hack Music Catalyst Fund' and this is a really exciting new initiative for us, as well as for IPOW.
We'll share some details, project examples and interviews on our YouTube channel during Score Relief 2024 to explain how this works and how very needed and effective these projects are.
IPOW's #HackMusic Catalyst Fund supports the development of grassroots music projects in places affected by conflict in the Global South. The charity offers projects, selected via an application and judging process, a seed funding grant of £3k along with the guidance of a carefully selected mentor, matched to the requirements of the local change-maker team running the project on the ground, and all resourced by kit donations from equipment partners, including Roland, Ableton, Native Instruments and Pioneer DJ.
We're aiming to ideally support at least 4 of those through Score Relief 2024 (that's a £12k target - slightly more than raised in Score Relief 2021 when our community was MUCH smaller) and then follow the progress of each project we have funded, and share it with you through 2024, which would be amazing for all. We are also hopeful that some of these projects will become useful resources and opportunities for our community, such as recording studios, perhaps orchestras or session musicians.
So please donate if you can, even $1 takes us closer to our goal and can make all the difference. If you're unsure how much to donate, a guideline for the quality of the materials and the opportunity value, as well as a useful minimum for our funding goal, would be $10. But if that's too much, we'd still welcome whatever you can spare ❤️
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT AND GOOD LUCK TO ALL PARTICIPANTS!
ABOVE ALL, ENJOY SCORE RELIEF 2024! WE CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR YOUR ENTRIES!
