We need your help! We currently have 4 girls whom are survivors of rape who we have not been able to send to school due to lack of funds.
I have made this fundraiser after receiving the below message from my friend Flo who runs the Maisha Safe House in Nairobi, Kenya. The safe house provides refuge accommodation as well as emotional and practical support for girls who have experienced rape and/or sexual abuse and have nowhere else to go.
Hello- we need your help! We currently have 4 girls whom I have not been able to send to school because I didn't have funds. The girls are all teen moms as a result of defilement/rape. This week we found a school that accommodates teenage mothers and they can even go with their babies if they want to. School fees per year is 45000+30000 (£500) maintenance and upkeep per girl while in school. I am kindly requesting you assist me in fundraising to take these girls to school. School is just about to begin for a new year.
These girls are just 4 among the 10 girls who have given birth in the last 3 months at the Safe House due to sexual abuses that happened during lockdown and curfew of Covid 19 last year. Even if we manage to send 2 girls to school I will still appreciate it very much!
Education will make a huge difference for these young girls and offer them opportunities that they would otherwise be unable to access. Please could you support Flo and the girls by donating whatever you can- every little bit will help!
