Aim

Children are suffering from increasing isolation, poor mental and physical health, and we want to help tackle this crisis.

About Heritage Charity London

We at Heritage Charity London are devoted to helping children receive the skills and education that allows them to prosper and flourish. Any child can achieve their goals and dreams as long as they have the right resources.

We in the UK are tackling this extraordinary task by helping children to get the most possible out of their education. To provide a relief for rising mental health issues and a booster for the skills of their current national curriculum.

What we do

Our programs allow students in the UK to make more from what their school has to offer and their personal circumstances can provide. Our school programmes are run with partnering primary and secondary schools on their school grounds, ranging from social and mental support , to art and critical thinking sessions, or even the importance of health and correct nutritional balance in our lives.

We educate on how these factors can affect our future development and how they can affect our current and future academic learning.

The programmes that we run target those most in need which has always been our approach, with particular attention placed on those from less economically advantageous backgrounds and those with disabilities.

Our Team

We are a charity with a small team but a big heart. We are dedicated to helping children around the country reach their potential, reduce mental health issues and promote healthy physical lifestyles. Our tireless and passionate efforts are at the core of our charity; all our volunteers and staff continuously contribute to our charitable work irrespective of their official roles.

The problem

Children are experiencing an increase in poor mental and physical health due to many factors. Including isolation and deprivation of valued resources following a long period of Covid lockdown. Statistics from Children's Society show that 1 in 6 five to sixteen year olds are suffering from mental health problems.

We at HCL are targeting the younger bracket of this age group to promote positive mental and physical wellbeing using sustainable methods to bring communities together. We aim to promote a greener and more environmentally friendly mode of transport for children and their careers to get to and from school.

Poor mental and physical health have a profound impact on the academic attainment of children in school and so tackling this issue at its root, at a young age, will produce multiple fold benefits going into their future.

Our Solution

Heritage Charity London's Cycling school bus aims to bring together the local community. This will take place in the morning and/or afternoon, through a united and joyful cycle to school, together with students, parents, carers, volunteers and HCL staff.

There are many benefits to a Cycling school bus - primarily, it encourages children to be more active and improves their mental and physical wellbeing. The cycling school bus allows students to arrive to school awake, energised, ready to learn and focus, leading to an increase in academic performance.

The money raised will be spent on:

  • purchasing and hiring bikes so those can take part too without a bike and
  • on uniforms for volunteers leading the cycle bus
  • hi vis for children participating
  • logistics/ transportation costs of bikes

Our Goal

Our innovative project will bring together children and local residents to share their thoughts and improve the the strength of their local community. Building bright and new connections within their local community. The Covid-19 pandemic has altered the way in which local communities interact and weakened that fundamental part of British society, we want to revive the spirit of local British communities and create a positive impact starting at the source; with children being the key in both improving their lives and the lives of their communities.

We are working with Crowdfunder to help bring about this project and promote more sustainable school journeys, improving the local communities and children's health and wellbeing. This platform will allow us to provide this project to local school children going to and from their local community.
