The current proposal is to develop a mobile sensory facility within Parc Y Scarlets to enable us to meet the needs of young people.
by Scarlets Community Foundation in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, United Kingdom
The Scarlets Community Foundation's purpose is to embrace the philosophy and values of rugby; delivering social benefits to the Communities of West Wales.
Our aim is to reduce barriers to inclusion for specific groups of young people and their families by providing sensory equipment to enable a calm space to be created which will reduce sensory overload.
The sensory facility will be available to young people and their families on Match Day, making events accessible and removing barriers to inclusion.
In addition to this the sensory room will be made available to Schools and external organisations between Match Days.
We strongly believe in inclusion and providing all young people and their families an equal opportunity to participate.
The mobile facility will be made available on match day for young people who may feel overwhelmed by the noise or atmosphere of the Stadium with the risk of sensory overload. The facility would be designed to be an immersive experience in a multisensory environment. The ability to access this will enable families to attend without concern and will ensure inclusion for people who might have previously thought such sporting engagement was not possible.
We will develop a facility which will meet a wide range of sensory needs. We have taken advice from local Educational Establishments to ensure we create a best practice and appropriate environment.
