SCAB started life as a short play about a brief yet meaningful interaction between two men on the fringes of society. From our first read of the play back in April 2019, Metamorph were blown away by Luke Stapleton’s writing and the story that it told. Following the show’s incarnation at Metamorph’s Picked + Mixed scratch nights, the team put the show into development ready for its VAULT Festival debut.
The full version of SCAB was scheduled to premiere in the last week of VAULT Festival 2020 - the week that Covid-19 closed theatres across the UK. The show has since been rescheduled three times, having been slated to be performed at VAULT Festival 2021’s “Lost Week” (postponed) and the White Bear Theatre. But, as we like to say at Metamorph, “fourth time lucky”...
And so, this August, SCAB will debut at Arcola Theatre, in a production directed by Jamie Biddle, with Conor Lowson reprising the role of the Narrator!
As with many companies, Covid has had a major impact on Metamorph’s work. In order to make SCAB the best it can possibly be, we are relying on outside funding and donations - hence this Crowdfunder!
