Aim: We hope this ambitious project will massively improve our facilities to allow us to nurture the youth players in our community

Who are we?

Spencer Bruerne Cricket Club (Trading as Stoke Bruerne Cricket Club) has been an integral part of the Stoke Bruerne Community for over 70 years. Our club prides itself on nurturing young talent, promoting sportsmanship, and fostering a sense of community among our members, as well as offering a safe space for local community members to socialise, with many often coming to the cricket club every Friday. We have three adult teams and a growing junior section which is thriving.

Why are we crowdfunding?

At the beginning of 2023 we began our three year project which will reshape the facilities for the club as well as our non cricketing offering which will provide further income to the club, every penny of which is pumped back into the club to further invest in our facilities, ultimately benefiting our members and youth players as well as the community. In the last 18 months we have invested in refurbishing our out dated clubhouse bar area - to achieve this the club has reinvested nearly £2,000 as well as gathering nearly £5,000 in grant funding and sponsorship.

We are seeking funding to implement two crucial components of our facility improvement project.

We have £35,000 raised towards this project through various avenues which our committee have worked tirelessly on and as of 04/10/2024 have been offered just over £6,000 in match funding by Sport England, but that is on the proviso that this Crowdfunder achieves double the pledged amount. If we can achieve the required funding in this Crowdfunder we will be able to break ground and at least get the new net in by the start of the new season and also prepare the entire site for the new storage facility to be installed at a later date. The whole project is planned and costed and has the seal of approval from Sport England, we're so close but just need to cross the finish line on funding!

It is of note that if we do not reach our target we do not get the Sport England funds so we will not complete the project

How we’ll spend the money raised

**Two-Lane Enclosed Cricket Net**: To provide our cricketers with top-notch training opportunities, we plan to install a 40-meter, two-lane enclosed cricket net. This facility will enable year-round practice sessions and serve as a valuable resource for players of all skill levels. The cost for this cricket net is approximately £48,000 including contingency costs. The net fundraising campaign aims to construct and equip state-of-the-art cricket practice nets at our club's premises. These nets will offer a controlled practice area where our players can focus on various aspects of their game, including batting, bowling, and fielding. Additionally, we plan to invest in high-quality cricketing equipment to complement the new nets and provide our members with the best possible resources to develop their talents. Below is an example install that the company who will install our nets provided which will match our install1728415685_1728415684754.png

**Ground Maintenance Equipment Storage Facility**: We aim to construct a dedicated storage facility for our ground maintenance equipment. This secure and weather-resistant space will not only extend the lifespan of our equipment but also ensure that our grounds are always in pristine condition. The estimated cost for this facility is £15,000 - £20,000. We have had engagement from a supplier for this with an initial cost of £13,545 for the framework with an initial £2,700 for the install.

Community impact

By supporting our cricket facility improvement project, you will not only be investing in the future of cricket but also contributing to the well-being and development of our community. We believe that this project will have a lasting impact on the lives of aspiring cricketers and will strengthen the bond of our community through the sport we all love.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
