The garden is a community space for the adjoining flats. It depends entirely upon volunteers for maintenance and development.

We are small group of committed gardeners who have created an ad hoc garden in a piece of disused land by our estate. It was started in April 2018 by 5 people and now has 9 active residents who have their own individual plots. We all pitch in for shared tasks and work together using indiciduals ' different skills.  We all live in homes with no gardens of our own.

The garden is springing back into life following the winter break, but we desperately need funds for the following :

  • materials for repair and maintenance of the landscaping timber borders and minor pathways
  • gardening tools and equipment
  • a large bin for composting
  • paint and wood preservative
  • a new supply of pebbles for the main pathways
  • pots and planters

The garden is already a great space for out community and is enjoyed by most of the cyclists and walkers who pass by on the river towpath. Some walkers have even said that it is one of the best features of this stretch of the River Lea!

With your help we hope to keep it that way and to improve it as a vital community resource.

Please do contribute what you can and, of course, come see the garden for yourself!
