Saving Mon Plaisir Restaurant, Sacre Bleu!

Mon Plaisir Restaurant has been doing simple classic French food since it was first opened by the Viala family in the late 40’s. Alain Lhermitte their head waiter (my husband) bought the restaurant of them in 1972. We continue to this day to be known as the oldest Independent French family owned and run restaurant in London!
We have been here at Monmouth Street at the same address for 77 years now, which says something given the transient nature of the restaurant business.
We are situated in the heart of London Theatreland between Shaftesbury Avenue, Charing Cross Road and Covent Garden.
We seem to have succeeded simply by doing what comes naturally to us: providing a menu, a bienvenue and an ambience that is warm and French through and through. Just simple, Classic French dishes prepared from the best produce, from a few local and loyal suppliers, cooked with simple skill and honest application, served straight forwardly and with a touch of appropriate imagination, compliment of our Team of long serving and loyal employees. Food that had never gone out of Fashion.
We seat about 96 covers in 4 separate but linked rooms which allow us to also cater for private parties.
We are opened for lunch, pre and post theatre diner, a seasonal a la carte menu, daily changing lunch menu, pre and post theatre menus, Evening specials are all available every day apart from Sunday when the whole Team have a well deserved rest from a busy week.
Most of Our guests are regulars, local residents, business people, tourists, young and old, or people who come by word of mouth recommendation. we aim to please all with our varied menu selection and good value for money.
You can expect a friendly, family welcome, a sound knowledge of our dishes and appropriate attentive, alert service that is never oppressive.
Aline and her Team lead by Virginie, Marilene, Nathan, Vincent, Marion, Djiadji and more, are very much interested in seeing that every guests leaves satisfied.
Expect to pull up a comfortable chair and share the cozy buzz of humans being human. Eating, drinking, being a little merry and enjoying their own conversation and not someone else’s.
