Leigh Building Preservation Trust is dedicated to saving Leigh Spinners Mill, the town's largest building and we need to now save Mill One.
Leigh Spinners Mill is described as the finest late era mill in the UK. It is two main mills but is a complete mill complex with its unique original engine, chimney and two almost identical mills. We are the Leigh Building Preservation Trust and are well advanced with repairing Mill Two which was built in 1923 and have invested some £1m thus far but now need to urgently raise funds to repair the roof to Mill One. This is the original building but suffers from badly leaking roof which is now threatening its survival. We need to raise £23,000 to undertake a temporary repair whilst we pursue major funding opportunities to bring the vacant spaces within the mill back into active use for the benefit of the local community.
We are now an experienced team and have won a national fundraising award for our efforts this year but a temporary repair will not be supported by major funding streams so we now have to look to our supporters. The great news is that we have already secured half our target so now need a big push from friends across the world to raise £11,500 to save Mill One.
