We would use the extra money for potential future legal fees, fundraising and commun...
Aim: We successfully stopped one application to build on our precious woodland and meadow, but there could be more. Help save the area forever.
After four years of campaigning, the Save Weekley Hall Wood community group and their thousands of supporters celebrated when in January 2024 the Government Planning Inspector dismissed the Duke of Buccleuchs developer's bid to build warehouses on the meadow at Weekley Hall Wood.
However, that was only one planning application and we know they could submit new plans...
Why?
Because way back in 2016, when the current North Northants Local Plan (also known as the Joint Core Strategy) was adopted, that land was earmarked for ‘employment use' by the local council.
The new North Northants Local Plan is in its draft stages and we want to get the area removed (or deallocated) so it cannot be built on in the future.
To help with this we need to raise money to pay the legal team who helped us so brilliantly in the Public Inquiry. They will research and write to the North Northants Council planning dept (authors of the draft Local Plan) to detail all the legal reasons to safeguard Weekley Hall Wood and Meadow from future commercial development.
The community really came together to raise the money for our KC and legal fees at the Public Inquiry and for that we are so grateful. We know times are tough and none of us want to ask for your cash again, but this is the best chance we have to save the area in perpetuity.
We know how much the community love using this area for dog walks, to exercise, to take their families and for their mental health. We know because we do the same. And there is so much wildlife present in the area it's truly astonishing. So please, if you can donate, please help.
