The Enbarr Foundation CIC is a non-profit organisation that was created to restore and develop the area around the John Summers Clock Tower Renovation into a community hub for the people of Deeside, and the surrounding areas.

The community space will be a place where people can access training and development courses to improve employability and where local business leaders can meet to collaborate. The site will also house a café, library, woodland garden and vegetable patch, and a museum that will showcase the amazing history and culture of not just the site but the local area.

Enbarr Foundations Vicki Roskams said: “We realise how successful and much loved the John Summers Clock Tower is, but it is coming to the end of its life and so we wanted to create a building which can accommodate more people, and be open to all not just an elite few.

Councillor Christine Jones  Deputy Leader of Partnerships Flintshire County Council said “ the plans look very exciting and innovative, and it’s great that  Enbarr Foundation are working alongside the local community in planning and developing  such good facilities for the community. I am really looking forward to seeing the next stage of the development.”

Marie Dixon said “Steelworks have been an incredibly important local institution for us all in Deeside / North Wales. At the centre of that is the experience of coming together as a community to make a change.  Myself and partner spent a combined 70+ years with the same employer, and when we retired looked for something to do, and jumped right in at the chance to Save a building that brought me together with my Husband."

Robert Wright (Director) stated "A new event and community space would add to the already great atmosphere and culture, to make sure everyone enjoys themselves safely, and add to the sense that North Wales is the place to be"

Enbarr plan to host weddings, conferences, community rooms and a wide range of exciting events throughout the year, as well as the venue being a place you can pop into for a coffee or a beer, and make it a great place to socialise and be with your friends and family.

This will be a hospitality destination that we can all be proud of and which will raise the spirits of everyone across the North Wales and North West region as we emerge from lockdown and start to do the things we all enjoy. This isn’t just a Heritage venue it goes beyond that and we want it to be used by the local community.

We have gained some funding to help reskill the local region to support the renovation and renovate part of the building, but due to the latest storms to hit the UK earlier this year have caused unexpected problems in the roof which we have limited funds to repair.

We have patched it the best we can, but due to a recent Roof survey due to the previous vandalism and decay it has been suggested to replace the roof immediately.

We need your support not to lose this building due to the water ingress caused by years of neglect and storms.

We will offer anyone that contributes to this Roof Fund, the chance for utilising the a variety of services onsite for free or at a highly reduced cost once completed within the 1st year as listed in Rewards.

Do you want to be part of the revolution, and tell your grandkids and family you contributed to Saving this building and key part of the industrial heritage and culture?

How much do we need?

The overall project cost is £5.2 M of which we have already secured £650K (12.5%) and we are asking our fans and the community to help us raise the 10% to support the roof renovation. We have set our target at £495,000 and have added £145,000 of pledged time and services to date to support this crowd funding initiative, and request your help to bring this Vision to life.

We are requesting your support to raise £350,000 to help raise the roof, and make this site watertight again.

Enbarr's Three wishes to breathe life back into the project :-

1. Pledge money in return for a variety of rewards. You will see them on this page and they're our way of saying thank you for your support.

2. Spread the word. We need to reach as many people as possible and tell them about this fantastic community project so share the page on your social media pages.

3. Can you help with rewards? If you are a local business, or know someone with one, get in touch and play a part in what we're doing with rewards. This is a community effort.
