The 1865 is appealing for your help to raise funds and awareness for the venue.
Despite being a viable, well run venue, we were unsuccessful in our bid for the Cultural Recovery Fund, which has left our future in a perilous state. We urgently need to raise funds to cover accounts that have accumulated since March 16th.
While we are lucky enough to be able to trade currently, we were under enforced closure for 5 months. Even now, we can only operate at 20% of our sellable capacity and 50% of our usual trading hours, meanwhile our operating costs have only reduced fractionally.
The 1865 opened in 2013 and has hosted a wide variety of live music, sports entertainment, comedy, community workshops and countless other events. The venue has become a staple on the national touring circuit, raised hundreds-of-thousands of pounds for charity and has become a essential community asset.
Despite the ongoing Coronavirus Pandemic and ensuing mitigations upon hospitality, we are still hosting regular events, providing relief to hundreds of live music fans, musicians and freelancers.
The amount that we are trying to raise is the absolute minimum that we require to ensure that we have a future in Southampton and to maintain our programme of live music and events through these troubling times.
Any further funds raised will ensure the long term future of the venue, while we await the light at the end of the Coronavirus tunnel.
Please help us to raise funds to secure the future of the venue for our patrons!
About #SaveThe30 - The Red List
During the last 8 months, Music Venue Trust and Crowdfunder have worked together to prevent the closure of hundreds of grassroots music venues. With no end to the crisis in sight, we are now refocusing that work to spotlight those venues under most imminent threat of permanent closure. The #SaveOurVenues Red List highlights the grassroots music venues at most risk.
Right now.
We’ve checked all the available funding, financial support, furlough schemes, business support for these venues, and what is on offer is not enough to prevent them being lost. These 30 venues are on the Critical List and need your help.
These grassroots venues play a crucial role in the development of British music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills. These venues also play a vital role in the cultural and economic vibrancy of any village, town or city.
Please donate, share this page widely and do what you can to help us to make sure our grassroots music venues survive this crisis.
