We will be setting up a Trust, and if there is any extra money we will discuss as a community how best to use it. Hopefully to support Tregardock in their upcoming fight against a very similar seaweed farm application recently approved.
One of the most beautiful, diverse, wild and unspoilt stretches of our coast is about to be exploited. Two commercial aquaculture ventures are attempting to privatise the sea. This proposal is not about renewable food sources, green fertiliser, marine habitats or carbon capture, it’s about money. They’re bandwaggoning. These companies did not consult the local community, they tried to slide their applications through unnoticed, and these applications are riddled with inaccuracies, falsehoods and wild claims.
We are currently fighting tooth and nail to stop this commercial development.
Our costs are beginning to mount up, as we have now hired a barrister (from the successful Gerrans Bay campaign), and we also need to purchase paper and ink, venue hire etc.
Times are hard for everyone, of course, but if you've found a pound in the sofa, or a loose fiver in your jacket, please consider donating to this crowdfunder to help keep us fighting to force the Marine Management Organisation to reject this disastrous proposal.
***ANY SURPLUS FUNDS WILL BE DISTRIBUTED TO LOCAL CAUSES***
THANK YOU
