We're one of the music venues identified by MVT as being most at risk of permanent closure due to the crisis. Please support our campaign.
POP is a small - but perfectly formed - intimate live music venue, showcasing original music, based in Hyde in the borough of Tameside in Greater Manchester. POP is a 'one and only' in the borough with the funkiest vibe outside of Manchester
Incepted in 2017 as a not for profit bar/café/live music venue, POP has become an acclaimed venue attracting bigger and bigger artists on and off our stage.
POP's venue licence permits U18 events - full stage monitoring allows young bands acclimatise to the feel of playing at larger venues. We are also able to give local bands support slots for larger acts
Our business model is unique, as our gigs and events fund a varied weekly timetable of activities for our diverse community both young & old, allowing POP to be self-funding. POP also serves as a drop off point for foodbanks/clothing/toys as well as offering micro-traders low cost display space for artisan goods. We are run entirely by volunteers.
POP's USP has, until recently, served us really well, then 'you know what' reared its ugly head so we can't generate income for rent/utilities etc.
HELP!
We want to be able to invite you all round to ours to enjoy the return of every thing that makes us human; laugh, cry, dance like a freak, MUSIC!
Our music venue risks permanent closure because we are unable to stage any gigs or events under current conditions, and 2020 was going to be 'Our Year'... the one where we -
..but it hasn't worked out like this. We don't want POP to go POP!
So please will you help us survive? Your donations will be used to pay rent, gas, water, electric and keep the lights on and the amps fired up for us to still be around in 2021
Please, if you would like to help us you can.......
During the last 8 months, Music Venue Trust and Crowdfunder have worked together to prevent the closure of hundreds of grassroots music venues. With no end to the crisis in sight, we are now refocusing that work to spotlight those venues under most imminent threat of permanent closure. The #SaveOurVenues Red List highlights the grassroots music venues at most risk.
Right now.
We’ve checked all the available funding, financial support, furlough schemes, business support for these venues, and what is on offer is not enough to prevent them being lost. These 32 venues are on the Critical List and need your help.
These grassroots venues play a crucial role in the development of British music, nurturing local talent, providing a platform for artists to build their careers and develop their music and their performance skills. These venues also play a vital role in the cultural and economic vibrancy of any village, town or city.
