Aim

Raising funds for professional & legal support to oppose major housing developments planned in our small, rural, historic village of Kemsing

Small rural communities like Kemsing are facing the prospect of large-scale developments being imposed upon them, driven by the government’s ambitious housing targets.

We all understand the need for more homes — but instead of focusing on the many brownfield sites that already exist, the government has introduced a new concept: the so-called “Grey Belt.” Originally intended to identify limited areas within the Green Belt suitable for development, this definition has already expanded to include almost any Green Belt land near existing (and often overstretched) infrastructure.

These Green Belt areas were once considered sacrosanct, a vital part of Britain’s world-famous countryside and natural heritage. Allowing their erosion threatens not just our landscapes, but the character and sustainability of our rural communities.

Here in Kemsing, we already struggle with rush-hour traffic congestion, which would only worsen with hundreds more cars on our roads. Other serious concerns include access to essential services, air quality, and the loss of woodland and wildlife habitats — all of which will be impacted if these developments proceed unchecked.

Together, we can stand up for our village, our countryside, and the principles of fair and sustainable planning. In addition to the fee for a planning consultant, the funds will be used for campaign materials.
