Aim

Save Guts the cat. Guts lives with Marie and Mikey and needs treatment for hyperthyroidism.

Hi everyone. We adopted Guts from the RSPCA about 7 years ago. He has been our favourite crazy guy ever since! He is very loved by us both. He has recently been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. There is a cure, but it costs £3645 plus a few hundred more of blood tests and the travel to get him to the clinic etc. We have already spent over half a grand for blood tests and medicines just to get him to this stage. Unfortunately as we adopted him with pre existing conditions like FIV so he isn’t insured. And we knew that someday we might have to come up with the funds if he got sick. The treatment I want to get him might not have been completely covered as it’s the gold star treatment.

The treatment has a 95% cure rate. it involves boarding him for 10- 12 days and treating him with radiation, it is just a quick injection. But he has to stay in the clinic while he is a radioactive boy! This looks much better to me than treating him with the medicine in the long run, as the medicine can build up to some nasty side effects, cats can become lethargic, sickly, get open sores and nausea. It only masks the thyroid condition and doesn’t cure it. Guts is also not super old, maybe around 12-13 years old, so he could have many years left completely healthy if we cure this. He has already developed some scabs on his face since giving him the medicine. The medicine is also very potent and dangerous to babies, toddlers and pregnant women. And as I have friends and family with kids who like to visit, I would also like to get rid of this medicine for that reason.

I don’t like to ask for things for nothing, so I have decided to use this platform to make an art prize draw. Every £10 is an entry and there’s some bulk options of entries to purchase. and there will be a few prizes to win.

- Chucky doll saw painting

- Lost boys saw painting

- Pennywise mini skateboard painting

- Blue worm from labyrinth mini skateboard painting

- 3 separate prizes of a painting of an animal or pet of your choice on a small wooden block with a hanger (great for the Christmas tree, or just to display on a shelf or wall) If you win one of these I will contact you to ask what you would like painted and it will come a month later.

- 5 separate prizes of wooden bookmarks hand painted with Guts in his tie (his classic photo)

As the big prizes are horror and movie themed prizes, if you don’t like one of those you can trade the prize for a bookmark or the small block hanger painting instead. As I know I might have some family on here that might not want horror saws and skateboards 😂 but most the people who follow my tattoo page should be into that sort of thing, I hope!

I will be doing the draw very fairly with a random number generator and a list of every name depending how many entries they have bought

Guts isn’t just our cat, he really is the most important thing in our lives. He is very bonded to us both. He has a real funny little personality and I want to try everything I can to fix this. He sleeps in my arms every night, we take him for walkies every morning. We started taking him for walks because of his FIV and having only one eye, and now he loves his walks and expects them every day. His time with Mikey is evening, he will crawl into his arms and stick his back leg on him and he sleeps like that having his belly rubbed while Mikey watches something. He has some funny habits I’ve not seen in a cat, he gets zoomies when we get home from work. He will fly out the kitchen door into the garden, and back in through the window, running laps around the flat. He’s very cheeky and very playful and quite a happy little guy.1790536260_img_2422.jpeg

Thank you for reading, and good luck on winning something!

Thanks very much from us all.

Marie, Mikey & Guts

you can read about the clinic he will be going to here:
https://www.andersonmoores.com/feline-hyperthyroid-clinic/

If for some reason he is not cleared to be admitted to the clinic then the funds will be saved in an account and used for general vet fees and medicine.
If we go over the amount we are aiming for then we will donate the rest to a cat charity. He should get the all clear to be admitted though, he has his first assessment October 26. I will keep you all updated on his progress.

The prize draw will be run on December 27

I will update this page as I finish the paintings progress.1792073832_c9354ad8-b3dd-4eb9-958d-e05e5e6ab186.jpeg
