#savecommunityradio will allow us to continue keeping our community and on-line audience, entertained and informed

We're still collecting donations

On the 22nd June 2020 we'd raised £2,292 with 42 supporters in 56 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

We are Nevis Community Radio Station based in Fort William (Registered charity SC044464, Company number: SC143720), broadcasting 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to Lochaber and beyond, since 1992.  We have a paid member of staff responsible for the day-to-day running of the station with the majority of the air-time hosted by our 40 volunteers who help deliver a first-class service to our audience. We all have a passion for music, community and the promotion of talent.

As a community radio station and charity, we are all-inclusive and work with the community to help promote clubs, activities and encourage participation to volunteer at the station too.  Nevis Community Radio is totally independent from other stations and therefore, neither funded by the bigger stations nor organisations such as the BBC.

It is incredibly important to us, particularly in these unprecedented times, to continue with our mission statement of keeping Lochaber and our on-line listeners entertained and informed with news, weather, travel and other local information.

As with other businesses and charities right now, we are feeling the financial effects the COVID-19 lockdown restrictions have brought, as events that would have generated income for us have had to be cancelled.

Over the past 5 years, Nevis Community Radio has supported local musicians and DJs and worked with local education centres, High Schools (Lochaber High School) and College UHI's (West Highland College UHI) within the transmission area. This has enabled us to use our experience to deliver an educational programme and training, (DJ Academy course accredited by the SQA), to mentor and encourage the next generation of radio broadcasters and DJs, whilst providing a platform for musicians, from the highlands.

Previous projects and events have not only contributed to adding something a bit different for the Lochaber area, but also have been a valuable source of income for us, contributing to the day to day running of the station.  However, with the current restrictions Covid-19 brings, all our usual sources of income have either ceased or have been cancelled and the worry of being able to keep even the lights on is very real.

Funds from this campaign would help keep our doors open during these challenging times and ensure once the world returns, we can continue to support and develop those in the music industry whilst giving Lochaber a voice via FM and online.

Thank you.

We ask project owners to honour their rewards wherever possible but please note that all pledges are donations and there is no guarantee that you will receive any rewards from the project owner. Please see Crowdfunder's Terms of Use for more information regarding rewards for pledges.
