We're still collecting donations
On the 1st December 2020 we'd raised £21,133 with 1131 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
COVID19 means 42s is unable to open as a nightclub for the forseeable future and now we are at a very real risk of closing forever. #save42s

On the 1st December 2020 we'd raised £21,133 with 1131 supporters in 28 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
42's is a 100% independent family run nightclub in Manchester.
The club has been giving the students and good people of Manchester and beyond fun & friendly Indie/Alternative nights out since 1990. Over this period, we have championed bands from the Smiths and Joy Division, through Stone Roses, Nirvana, Oasis, Libertines, Strokes, Courteeners and the Slow Readers Club. Madchester, Grunge, Brit Pop, Now Wave, Post Punk, Electro have all had their day on our Dirty Dancefloor.
AND NOW, WE NEED YOUR HELP TO OPERATE IN A POST-PANDEMIC WORLD
If you're reading this, then you're probably one of the many 1,000s of people who've posed for a quick selfie in the infamous tunnel, downed a vodbull and headed for the dance floor. Or maybe you are one of the new bunch of Manchester and Salford Freshers who want to experience proper Manchester nightlife?
We are desperate to open our doors to you all again.
Sunak said only non-viable businesses will fail. But we believe we are a viable business that has been shut down through no fault of our own.
In a bid to stave off possible closure, we tried opening as a pub. After a few weeks, numbers increased and we reached a break even point. No sooner had we done that, than the 10pm curfew was announced.
Once again our hopes were dashed. Our income plummeted and we started running up debts just to stay open.
Then, it got even worse, and we were forced to close once more.
We are now presented with the prospect of a slow, lingering death.
We have little financial assistance from the government beyond the furlough scheme, which is reducing every month and have, so far, received no rent relief from our landlord.
It breaks our hearts to say this but, without your help, we may be forced to close forever. We need your help to ensure we can strike back and keep the party going.
God knows we're all gonna need a good party when this is all over!
We have survived for the last seven months, mainly in Government enforced Lockdown, and this has burned through our cash reserves.
We are positive that this pandemic can and will be overcome, and by hook or by crook we will dance again.
BUT, we need YOUR help.
There's been a lot of changes since we first set up this Crowdfunder.
We have always wanted to provide the real 42s experience, not some half assed attempt, and it was a reluctant, though financially essential, move to open as a bar.
But the introduction of the 10 o'clock curfew soon put paid to our ability to break even regardless.
Any similar Government rules for the future will mean that opening will still not be viable.
There is no doubt that, since launching the Crowdfunder, changes such as the extension of the Government Furlough scheme have helped us retain our wonderful staff.
And the £3,000 per month grant will go some way to covering overheads, but this still falls short of what we need to survive while the dancefloor remains empty.
So, while we feel a moral obligation for this help to be reflected in our Crowdfunder target, we do still need your help.
The £3,000 per month grant takes our running costs of £10,000 per month down considerably and, with our staff costs taken care of by the furlough, we have calculated that a figure of £20,000 is sufficient to see us into the new year.
With the breaking news of several effective vaccines, some kind of normality is being suggested by next Easter, and we hope, once more, to see you all rocking the dancefloor to a classic 42s soundtrack.
A big thank you to everyone who has supported us so far.
We are expecting a long climb back to operating at full capacity, possibly with increased safety measures, capacity restrictions and many curve-balls thrown at us, ultimately at a potentially huge financial cost. But, with your help, we will see this through.
In return for your kind donation we will offer you
level 1 - £10
level 2 - £15
level 3 - £35
Level 4 - £50
Level 5 - £200
Level 6 - £1000
