Save the Tunnel Club - formally Subway City

the Covid pandemic is the biggest threat the independent music scene has faced. We were the first to close and no doubt our industry will be the last to reopen due to Covid-19 and the legislation that goes with it.

In the meantime however we still incur running costs every month, with no income available from any sort of outdoor space and no government help or funding we need your help to keep things ticking till we’re able to return and bring you more memorable nights and fantastic events to the great city of Birmingham.

Your support is welcome, appreciated and needed to help keep this legendary piece of Birmingham clubbing history alive.

Any donation even as little £1 from every member on this page goes a huge way in helping us meet our monthly obligations that brings us closer to reopening or anything you can afford, every single donation helps us and we  can’t stress enough it's truly appreciated.

Over the next few weeks we will bringing you a series of live streams from our biggest events (including Matrix & House of God next Saturday) and we will be asking for donations to keep us going through this challenging time

Formally the legendary and notorious Subway City, this club is etched into the history of the Birmingham underground music scene & we are sure it will be a great loss to many of you who have raved with us over the years. First opening as the jug in the 80's and coming into its own as Subway City in the 90's the club peaked in the hard house era attracting around 1,500 ravers every Saturday, many of which travelled from other cities to enjoy the legendary vibe. Our most famous night House of God has been going for over a quarter of century, personifying what constitutes 'Birmingham Techno' and giving the world the legendary techno DJ Anthony “Surgeon” Child. Subway closed being notorious for its bassline parties & Tunnel Club was born under the ownership of Del Malcolm, who formally worked security at Subway. Del kept the club going, while many other underground clubs rose and fell in the second city, the last few years have seen a resurgence & Tunnel Club now hosts regular nights across a variety of genres including Techno, DnB, Bassline, House, Tech House & Trance. The plans for this summer reflected this with a festival and big name bookings in the pipeline, we hope that these plans will come to fruition soon but first we need to survive this Covid storm 

If we manage to make it through with your help, we will begin putting on regular free parties as a thank you to all of you who make this club what is and also as a way to provide a platform for fresh talent coming through.
