Aim

We aim to create a Community Benefit Society to take on the lease and keep this much‑loved music venue alive and community-owned.

Unfortunately The Post Bar has now shut its doors, however we are exploring the possibility of a community-led takeover to keep it running as a music venue and community space.

We plan to:

  • Create a Community Benefit Society, similar to a company but owned and run for the benefit of the community
  • Secure the lease, we are in conversation with the current lease owners and hope to show the strength of support among the community
  • Create a Community Share Offer at a later date, allowing you to invest and become member-owners of the venue
(Drawing up the full terms of the share offer will take some time)

We are currently trying to gauge interest and feasibility. We require an initial round of funding to cover the administrative costs of setting up the CBS and Share Offer, this will be funded via the donations we're able to raise here.

We also hope that you, the community, will be interested in investing in a future Share Offer. We have prepared a short questionnaire which will allow you to demonstrate your interest in making an investment. Your feedback will inform our our decision on whether it is responsible to proceed and use any funds raised here to kickstart the process (if not all donations will be distributed back to donors), we therefore request you take a couple of minutes of your time to complete the form below.
