About Us
I’m Deborah Jones, founder and CEO of Resolute Women’s Support Services, a survivor-led domestic abuse charity based in Barnsley.
Resolute was created from lived experience and from a determination to make sure that women experiencing or recovering from domestic abuse have somewhere they can turn where they will be believed, understood and supported.
Alongside our dedicated team of staff, volunteers, counsellors and supporters, we have built The Lotus — the heart and home of Resolute.
The Lotus is more than a building. It is a safe, welcoming space where women can walk through the door without judgement and begin rebuilding their lives.
We provide counselling, peer support, advocacy, practical help, wellbeing support, signposting and a community where survivors know they are not alone.
Our Vision
Our vision is simple but powerful: no woman should have to face domestic abuse or its aftermath alone.
We want The Lotus to remain a place where survivors can feel safe, regain confidence, rebuild their independence and move forward with hope.
We also want to continue developing Resolute so that lived experience remains at the heart of domestic abuse support, training and the wider systems that survivors have to navigate.
But right now, our immediate priority is survival.
The Lotus is at risk of closing because we do not have enough unrestricted funding to meet the costs of keeping our doors open.
How Will We Use The Money?
Every pound raised through this Crowdfunder will help us protect the future of The Lotus and continue providing vital support.
Funds will contribute towards the essential costs of running our centre, including rent and premises costs, utilities, insurance, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, supporting our services and helping us continue delivering support to victim-survivors.
It will give us breathing space to secure longer-term funding and partnerships while ensuring women are not left without somewhere safe to turn in the meantime.
This isn't about saving a building for the sake of a building.
It is about protecting what happens inside it.
It is the counselling session that helps someone begin to heal.
It is the cup of tea with somebody who understands.
It is having someone beside you when systems feel overwhelming.
It is walking into a room frightened and isolated and walking out knowing that somebody believes you.
