Aim

To save a 500 year old pub from closure in a small village in the North Costwolds.

The Kings Arms was opened in Cleeve Prior in 1542. Henry the 8th was on the throne. It was the year witchcraft has been made illegal and punishable by death. It was 22 years before Shakespeare was born 14 miles away (he may have even visited.) It is now closed and the village of 250 houses in the North Cotswolds is losing its community hub.

We need a place for our villagers both young and old to meet each other and socialise or they will become isolated. Our village will then just be a collection of houses.

Unless, we save the pub and run it ourselves! We need to raise a total of 350,000 pounds to buy the freehold, fix things and manage it as a village. We have already had over 110,000 pounds pledged by villagers and we have applied to several government grants - (so far we have a yes on a 50,000 pound grant)  but we need your help.

We need a small fund of 3,000 - 5,000 pounds to help us apply for more grants as they incur legal fees, reports and professional support.

This is our fighting fund.
