This Christmas, we’re launching a crowdfunding campaign to save The Crescent, we need to buy the building before it is sold and we loose it.

Our Story:  Why The Crescent Matters

The Crescent is more than just a building; it’s a lifeline for many. Last month alone, over 260 people came through our doors, finding a safe space, support, and a sense of belonging. As part of the social prescribing network, we’re a trusted place where people feel valued and understood, with some calling us their only family.

We’re here for everyone. From endless cups of tea and biscuits to listening ears, we provide comfort, conversation, and referrals to professional services when needed. We offer wellbeing treatments, distribute food hampers, and perform random acts of kindness, all given freely as gifts, not charity.

Take one story: a lady who was housebound due to health issues came to The Crescent. Her husband and son, who had been her full-time carers, have since been able to return to university, confident that she is safe and happy with us. She now gives back by helping us, and her whole family has become part of our community, actively participating in events and activities. It’s an incredible transformation that highlights the power of what we do.

Even professionals find solace here, using the space to work, meet clients, or connect with colleagues. They leave with smiles, full bellies, and random acts of kindness. They also feel reassured knowing they have a warm, safe, and welcoming place to refer people to. The Crescent creates connections, uplifts spirits, and changes lives—it’s truly magical.

Our volunteers are the heart of what we do—some came to us for help and now help others, becoming part of our family. We also support other community groups and charities, offering them a warm, safe, and unique environment to continue their vital work.

The Crescent isn’t just a building; it’s a beacon of hope. Together, we can ensure it remains a community treasure for generations to come. We just can’t lose it. x
