What's Re:Play?
Re:Play is a creative initiative by Take Action Together combining art, sustainability, and community engagement all under one roof. Set within Salford's flourishing artisan community here at Quayside Media City, we focus on reusing everyday waste and transforming it into something new, fun, and useful.
Through hands-on workshops and events, we encourage people of all ages to think differently about waste and discover the potential of recycled materials. Founded by strong women who are passionate advocates for freedom, equality, and the planet, we've seen first-hand the difference that our Re:Play Sustainability Studio has had in just 2 months, and we don't want to stop here!
We're looking to secure more funding, because we desperately want to keep offering our wonderfully creative programme of workshops, environmental inspiration, and community learning about sustainability. But, we need your help to do it...
If we can reach our Crowdfunder target, we'll be able to secure additional funding and keep Salford's only Sustainability Studio open for the next 3 months. During that time, we'll not only be engaging an array of different communities with creativity, sustainability and environmental learning, we'll also be squirrelling away in the background to keep the studio alive for even longer!
What does Re:Play do?
We offer a range of free and paid-for, creative workshops for families, schools, and community groups. Each session focuses on using recycled and scrap materials to create something new, from art projects to upcycled household items or seasonal decorations. We want to help everyday people like us, to see everyday waste and scrap in a new, reusable light. The possibilities are endless, and we're living to prove it to you...
Our workshops include:
- Sustainable Chat & Craft: These artist-led sessions allow full access to our treasure trove of recycled and scrap finds to craft and create something really beautiful - sustainably.
- Family Scrap Workshops: Fun, themed crafting sessions using household waste to create seasonal projects like Halloween decorations or Christmas ornaments that become family treasures.
- Toddler & Parent Sessions: Hands-on play and creativity for little ones, using safe, recycled materials like cardboard, bottles, and more, these sessions remind us all about the power of play.
- Home Education Workshops: Longer, project-based sessions where home-educated children can plan and build creative projects from scratch, as well as tapping into a vibrant Home Ed community of families.
- Open Scrap Play: Unstructured play sessions using scrap materials, encouraging children (and adults!) to explore, build, create, and problem-solve with imagination.
- School Group Workshops: Educational sessions for KS1 and KS2 pupils focused on recycling and creating projects from scrap, engaging future generations in protecting the planet.

Why does it matter?
We're so glad you asked. This is where we can let the numbers speak for themselves. Now, we haven't done the maths for the whole time we've been open yet but in the first 6 weeks alone, we welcomed through our doors:
More than 330 children
Over 170 adults
On average 76 people per week
and a total of 455 participants!
All that in just 6 weeks! 🤯 What could the next three months offer? In fact, why don't we tell you..?
Our projections show that if we can stay open for three more months we'll engage:
Over 1000 people!
in artistically creative, environmental crisis-tackling, sustainability-inspiring sessions!
Now surely you agree, that's something worth fighting for.
