We need to raise £300,000 to secure the future of Ron Todd House as a centre for solidarity and support for workers across the movement.

by Stephen Stark in Northampton, West Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

Ron Todd House is more than just bricks and mortar; it is a living testament to the struggles and successes of the labour and trade union movement. Named after the legendary General Secretary of the Transport and General Workers’ Union (TGWU).

Under Ron Todd's leadership, the TGWU fought for better wages, safer working conditions, and the rights of workers across the nation. His tireless advocacy inspired generations, and this house serves as a hub for practical solidarity, community gatherings and educational events.

Ron Todd House stands as a symbol of the relentless fight for workers' rights, social justice, and the power of collective action. This building has served as a beacon for those dedicated to championing the rights of the working class.

But now, Ron Todd House is at risk. Without urgent funds, we could lose this vital piece of our social history—an irreplaceable reminder of the sacrifices and victories that shaped the labour and trade union movement in the UK.

Losing this house would mean erasing a part of our history—a place where important decisions are made, and where the voices of workers fighting for equality and for the prevention of poverty are amplified.

Our Goal

We need to raise £300,000 to secure the future of Ron Todd House. This will allow us to:

  • Preserve the Building: Purchase Ron Todd House and carry out essential repairs and renovations.
  • Create a Community Space: Transform the house into a vibrant community centre for educational programs, union activities, and public events, ensuring that Ron Todd's legacy continues to inspire future generations.
  • Establish a Workers’ Museum: Develop an interactive museum dedicated to the history of the labor movement, featuring exhibits on Ron Todd’s life, the TGWU, and the broader struggles for social justice.

How You Can Help

We can't do this without you. Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal. By contributing, you're not just preserving a building—you’re safeguarding the legacy of a movement that fought for the rights we enjoy today.

  • Donate: Give what you can to help us reach our goal.
