Aim

Help Priory Court Food Hub in Walthamstow stay open, feeding 60+ local households and delivering to those who can’t leave home

The Skills Within and GB Carnival support local projects that tackle poverty and isolation as well as creating visually spectacular processional performances, which celebrate heritage, diversity, culture and society and creates joy for artists, participants and audiences alike. 

One of these projects is Priory Court Food Hub, a volunteer-run hub feeding around 60 households every week, including people who are housebound and cannot access food elsewhere.

Why it matters:

• Waltham Forest is the 12th most deprived borough in London
• Nearly 1 in 5 children grow up in absolute poverty
• The local authority are struggling to meet the demand of supplying all local food banks with surplus food — leaving Priory Court Food Hub at risk of closure
• Without the hub, families and isolated residents could be left without access to food
• We are reaching out to charities for surplus supplies, but in the meantime the hub urgently needs community support to keep going

Priory Court Food Hub is more than a food bank — it’s a lifeline for the community.

We want to keep Priory Court Food Hub open and operational, ensuring that all households who rely on it continue to receive food and support. By providing funding, we can help the hub replace the surplus food it previously received from the local authority, maintain deliveries to those unable to leave home and continue its volunteer-led operations.
