Aim: As seen on Channel 4's Our Yorkshire Shop. We need to raise £250,000 to get Peacock & Verity in Masham back open and thriving again.

Help prevent 15 Silver Street in Masham being taken from the community forever

We need your help to save our derelict building in Masham and transform it into Peacock & Verity, an incredible space for our community. Together we can restore this 300-year-old building and bring it back to life.

We're so close, and since the cameras stopped rolling we've been given a very short window to fully purchase the building at a preferential market rate.

That puts us at a fork in the road...

If we don’t raise the money in the next 2 months the chance for Masham to fully own the building will be lost forever and 15 Silver Street could be put back on the open market. High renovation costs makes it unlikely another developer could step in, the property would remain empty, fall further into disrepair, and have an increasingly damaging impact on Masham.

Acting now is essential to safeguard its future and prevent the hard work of the whole Masham community for the past five years being lost

If we can secure full ownership of 15 Silver Street it will be held in an asset lock by the P&V Community Land Trust for the productive use of the community forever. 15 Silver Street becomes an investment in Masham’s future; a cherished asset rather than fading into neglect.

We can then unlock £1 million in funding we have identified so we can continue the restoration. The full restoration is still in its early stages and is projected to cost a total of £2.2 million. The CLT fully owning the whole building means we can consider undertaking the work in phases and getting areas of the building open sooner.

The incredible Masham community you have met in the programme can continue to transform the space into a celebration of our heritage that breathes new life into our High Street.

Although this is a "Keep What You Earn" crowdfunder, the P&V Board has decided that if the combined funds from the crowdfunder and other sources do not meet the required amount to purchase the remaining portion of 15 Silver Street, all crowdfunder pledges will be refunded to donors through the crowdfunder platform.

What will I be able to do at Peacock & Verity when it’s open?

It will include a new history centre, a Victorian grocers shop, an Edwardian tearoom, and affordable rental flats for local people. Find out more about the building here.

A Victorian grocers shop
Our Victorian grocers will be a living history experience. We’re recreating the wooden counter that once spanned the length of the shop, with a traditional shopkeeper, the smell of loose-leaf teas and fresh coffee, and goods sold by weight.

An Edwardian tearoom
Visitors will be able to enjoy teas, cakes, and light meals, and learn about life in Edwardian Masham.

Affordable rental flats for local people
Masham is becoming increasingly expensive for local people looking to rent. We’re converting the top two floors of the building into four affordable rental flats for local people.

Jobs, training, and opportunities for our community
We're turning the shop’s old Victorian bakehouse into a heritage and skills centre - a space for learning, creativity, and hands-on exploration.

This isn’t just about bricks and mortar. It’s about protecting heritage, providing homes, creating local jobs, and bringing Masham’s story to life in a way that will inspire generations.

Be part of something lasting. Help us open the doors to Peacock & Verity.
