Save Paisleys Green Space are now crowdfunding to cover legal and associated costs incurred in protecting the Ancient Woodland at Hollybush, Dykebar, Paisley. This is a very costly process and anyone who has supported us can now help by donating to this crowdfunder.
Hollybush woodlands at Dykebar has been on the map for hundreds of years.
This map is from 1857.
Within the woods are at LEAST 13 recorded veteran trees (recorded by the Woodland Trust on their veteran register).
Renfrewshire Council rejected planning permission for Cala Home to build houses heres, but the Scottish reporter approved it.
Renfrewshire Council planning will not consider the woodlands being ancient because NatureScot have not recorded them as such. However, NatureScot only record ancient woodlands of 1 Hectare or above, Hollybush is just under this threshold. But NatureScot do state
