Who We Are
We are EveryDoctor, an organisation that began as a group of doctors deeply concerned about the experiences of NHS staff and patients, and whose voices have now been joined by thousands of people who care about the NHS.
During the pandemic, our organisation grew significantly as we advocated for frontline workers and we developed a deep understanding of the UK's political system through our parliamentary briefings and direct engagement with lawmakers. We began our organisation because we recognised the need to speak up about the deterioration in the NHS. But over the past 6 years, our understanding of the situation has grown. We have conducted over 30 parliamentary briefings, have run numerous groundbreaking research projects into NHS privatisation, and have contributed to thousands of media pieces.
We have become experts in what politicians are doing to the NHS, and we believe that the NHS is being destroyed because corporate interests are sitting too closely to politicians and influencing their decisions. If we don’t stop this, things will get even worse for NHS patients and staff, so we are stepping things up.
The Crisis We Face
The NHS is at a critical turning point. We're witnessing:
● Further privatisation of the NHS, with plans for billions more in public money to be directed to private healthcare companies
● A lack of meaningful support for hardworking NHS staff, which is causing low morale and causing many valued doctors, nurses and others to leave their jobs.
● A lack of proper investment into publicly-owned NHS services and structures, meaning that emergency departments are struggling, NHS buildings are crumbling, and millions of patients are being profoundly failed.
Why We Need Your Support
There is strong support for the founding principles of the NHS, and when we ran polling ahead of the General Election last year, the majority of people who intended to vote for the Labour Party, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems said they did not want private companies to be involved in the NHS. Yet despite this, political decisions continue to move in the opposite direction.
Our Plan for Change
We believe that the only way we will rebuild the NHS properly, by ensuring proper investment from politicians, eliminating NHS privatisation, and supporting staff properly to care for their patients, is by building a mass movement now to save the NHS. That is a daunting, ambitious goal, but we are up for the challenge, and here are the first steps we hope to take:
The first steps of our strategy:
We're launching an ambitious two-pronged strategy to ensure political decision makers listen to the people who put them into office, and act accordingly when it comes to any matter related to the NHS:
1. Public Awareness Campaign
● Create and distribute powerful educational materials, to explain what is happening to the NHS, and what needs to change to improve things for NHS patients and staff
● Launch a comprehensive social media campaign
● Make the complex reality of NHS privatisation clear and easy to understand
2. Political Accountability Project
● Create a detailed database tracking MP responses to constituent concerns about the NHS to assist our team in our campaigning work
● Investigate the relationships between private healthcare interests and political decision-making
● Provide people with tools and information to hold their representatives accountable
Why This Matters Now
EveryDoctor has built a Doctors’ Manifesto for the NHS, setting out the key priorities for politicians in order to Rebuild The NHS. We've spent months engaging with politicians, by running 8 briefings. We coordinated thousands of constituents to invite their representatives to the meetings (Over 23,000 letters were sent for the 8 briefings), conducted thousands of telephone calls to political offices, and created detailed briefing documents to accompany every meeting. We have then invited direct engagement with concerned politicians. While some politicians are listening, most are not doing enough to protect the NHS. We've realised that real change will only come through building an informed and energised movement of people who understand what's at stake and are ready to fight for their NHS.
Your Support Makes This Possible
The NHS doesn't belong to politicians or political parties - it belongs to all of us. With your help, we can:
● Fund our research, grow our team, maintain our database and continue our investigation work
● Create powerful educational materials to extend our outreach efforts
● Build effective digital campaigns and equip you with the information you need to hold your elected representative to account
This is an ambitious project, but we believe it's our best chance to protect and preserve the NHS as a truly public service that is able to provide comprehensive and timely care for patients, whilst properly supporting all hardworking NHS staff.
Join us in the first steps of this crucial fight for the future of the NHS!
