🏏 Help Wellingborough Old Grammarians Build a Future: Save Our Cricket Nets!

For generations, Wellingborough Old Grammarians Cricket Club has been at the heart of our community. It is where children discover a love for sport, lifelong friendships are formed, confidence is built and players of all ages come together through a shared passion for cricket.

Today, we need your help to protect that future.

Our practice nets have reached the end of their life. They are no longer fit for purpose and are deteriorating to a point where they need to be completely replaced. Without safe, modern training facilities, it becomes increasingly difficult to provide the opportunities that so many of our players rely upon.

We have explored every possible funding route available to us. Unfortunately, due to our club structure, we are unable to access many of the grants available to standalone cricket clubs. Despite years of work trying to secure alternative funding, we have now exhausted our options.

This is why we are turning to the people who know and love our club.

More Than Cricket

This project is not simply about replacing a set of nets.

It is about ensuring that the five year old attending their first All Stars session has somewhere safe to learn. It is about providing teenagers with the opportunity to develop their talent. It is about supporting our senior players who proudly represent the club every weekend. Most importantly, it is about creating opportunities for future generations.

At Wellingborough Old Grammarians, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of everything we do. We welcome and encourage participation from everyone, regardless of age, race, ethnicity, gender, background, ability, or experience. We believe cricket should be accessible to all, and we are committed to ensuring our club remains a place where everyone feels they belong.

One of our proudest achievements has been the growth of girls' cricket.

What started as a vision to create more opportunities for young girls has become one of the club's biggest success stories. Today, we have had over 30 girls aged 5-16 participating in our youth academy since the creation of the all stars programme. Many have progressed into senior cricket, breaking down barriers and inspiring the next generation to follow in their footsteps.

Several of these players were also part of our outstanding Ladies team that completed a historic league and cup double. Their success is proof of what can be achieved when young people are given the opportunity, support and facilities to thrive.

The Impact of Your Donation

Your support will directly benefit:

🏏 Five thriving youth sections - All Stars, U11s, U13s, U15s and U17s.

👧 A growing girls' pathway that is creating opportunities and developing future stars of the game.

🏆 Our successful Ladies team, who continue to inspire young female cricketers across the community.

📈 Three senior men's teams, with players progressing through the ranks and enjoying success at every level.

Every one of these players relies on quality practice facilities. Every one of them deserves the chance to develop their skills in a safe and inspiring environment.

Our Goal

We are aiming to raise £40,000 to:

✅ Remove the existing unsafe facilities

✅ Prepare and improve the ground works

✅ Install brand-new multi-lane cricket nets

✅ Create a training facility that will serve our community for generations to come

The facility we build today will benefit hundreds of players every year and thousands more in the years ahead.

Please Help Us Make This Happen

Whether you played for the club years ago, have a child currently involved, know someone who wears the OG badge with pride, or simply believe in creating opportunities for young people through sport, we would be incredibly grateful for your support.

Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.

If you are unable to donate, please share our campaign with friends, family, colleagues, and local businesses. Sometimes a single share can be just as valuable as a donation.

Together, we can build something that will outlast all of us.

Together, we can give the next generation the facilities they deserve.

Please support Wellingborough Old Grammarians Cricket Club and help secure the future of cricket in our community. 🏏💙
