All or nothing
This project needs 100% of its target
Brighton & Hove City Council is preparing to sell the land very soon. Its future is unknown, and it could be developed in the future.

Help Us Save Hogs Plat 🐴🌿
Protecting a little piece of Rottingdean for future generations.
For almost 30 years, Hogs Plat has been a huge part of our family’s life.
It’s where our horses have safely grazed, where our children have grown up and where we’ve made countless memories.
But Hogs Plat isn’t just special to us.
It’s part of our village. Over the years, people have stopped to chat, say hello to the horses, watch the wildlife and enjoy this familiar patch of green space wether its taking a peaceful stroll or enjoying a dog walk.
We’ve been lucky enough to see buzzards, kestrels, falcons, bats, badgers and foxes here.
Now, the future of Hogs Plat is uncertain, and we need your help to protect it.
💚 An Exciting Step Forward
We have now applied to begin setting up Hogs Plat Community Land Trust (CLT).
Our hope is to raise the funds needed to purchase the land, preserve its traditional horse grazing and protect it for the benefit of the local community and wildlife.
We want Hogs Plat to remain a green, peaceful and welcoming part of Rottingdean for generations to come.
🌼 Our Ideas for Hogs Plat
Alongside keeping our horses grazing and protecting the wildlife, we’re looking into creating:
These are ideas we’re aiming for, not confirmed plans. We want to create something that benefits the village while keeping the land’s natural beauty and character.
(Ideas welcome )
❤️ How You Can Help
We have been given the opportunity to purchase Hogs Plat and have already raised a significant amount towards saving it.
But we cannot do this alone.
Every donation, no matter how small, could help us protect this special place.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing our story and spreading the word would mean just as much.
We’re also exploring the possibility of community shares once the appropriate arrangements are in place.
We intend to seek legal protections for the land if we’re successful in purchasing it. We’re also working on clear arrangements for handling donations should the purchase not go ahead.
🌳 Imagine Hogs Plat in Another 30 Years…
Children still stopping to see the horses.
Wildlife still thriving.
Families enjoying the orchard.
Neighbours still stopping for a chat.
That’s the future we’re hoping to protect.
Because this isn’t just about saving a field.
It’s about saving a little piece of our village.
Thank you so much for your kindness, support and encouragement.
Together, let’s try to save Hogs Plat. ❤️🐴🦊🦇
