To preserve a proud symbol of our Town's heritage that's been at the heart of our community since 1881 for future generations to come.
Chipping Sodbury Town Trust are a charity that are responsible for the building that has been the emotional and physical centre of our town since 1881. Erected in the memory of William Blathwayt of Dyrham Park who served in the Waterloo campaign and a long serving justice of the peace it has been at the Heart of the community ever since. The tower has been a meeting place for people since then, romance has bloomed, people have been hired at hiring fairs, that have become funfairs, carnival processions, people have marched to war and services of remembrance have all taken place under it's gaze. We need to ensure it survives for another 150 years, a fitting symbol of our Town's heritage for future generations to understand and celebrate all the good things that happen in our lovely town. We are at the earliest stages of our campaign and we are gathering support from across our community. Already local people are offering support and help. Sponsored walks are planned, we have the promise of a fund raising concert in one of the 8 pubs at the centre of our town. We want to engage with the local schools to get young children involved. This building has been at the emotional and physical heart of our community for almost 150 years. We are just it's current guardians, it belongs to the community and we hope to involve everyone, businesses, schools, individuals to help preserve it.
