Aim

We need to raise £100K by March 2019 to prevent five of our refuges closing.

Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service (NDAS) began under the name of Northampton Women’s Aid in 1976. Originally staffed by volunteers the organisation has changed a lot since then but has always been dedicated to helping and supporting the victims of domestic abuse.

In 2017-18 we supported 72 clients in refuge. We had to turn approximately 150 clients away as we had no space for them. If our refuges close this number will become far higher.

The loss of our refuges will have a knock on effect on many other agencies. Local councils who will have to deal with more cases of homelessness and more cost to house families fleeing domestic abuse. There may be a potential rise in domestic homicides if there is a lack of refuges for the victim to flee to. There will also be more pressures on other charities including Oasis House and other night shelters who will undoubtedly have to try and deal with some of the clients we would no longer be able to help.

To enable us to keep the much needed refuges this campaign is aiming to raise £100K by the end of March 2019. This is the amount it will cost to keep a very basic level of support in all of our refuges.

We are appealing to all of our supporter to do what they can to help us reach our target. More information and fundraising ideas can be found on our website www.ndas.co/donate-and-fundraising
