We're still collecting donations
On the 24th October 2022 we'd raised £4,380 with 104 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We are raising funds to keep Koja alive, having been put in financial constraints when we were told to leave our premises without notice.

On the 24th October 2022 we'd raised £4,380 with 104 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
With the extra funding we would be able to do a number of things. Install a much needed sink in our new location. We would be able to invest in new cafe furniture for inside and outside. Much needed marketing to let local visitors and businesses know where our new location is; including signage, flyers and more (as we're no longer just off the main high street - it needs a little more explaining)! Investing in new products such as the Swedish Christmas stock and looking longer term to bring in more breakfast and lunch items for customers. Bring back our very popular merchandise range including our Koja t-shirts, totes and mugs.
Eventually... to hire more staff and grow our Koja family!
Loyal customers and friends of Koja,
In June this year, we were put in a really tough situation where we had to leave the premises of our coffee shop on Jeffries Passage, without so much as 24 hours notice. It came as a shock to us as you can imagine and it’s taken some time for us to process what happened and to try and get back up and running again. Once the doors closed that day, the money stopped coming in and we still had bills to pay.
We have had some amazing support by customers, staff, friends and family during this time. We were completely humbled by people’s kindness, turning up to help us move everything out and generosity of bringing their cars and vans that day. Most incredibly of all, we were offered a new home that very day at New House Art Space, run by our brilliant friend Dom.
Our new space is located in the entrance of New House, located on Fays Passage and opposite the Odeon cinema in Guildford. Just a short walk from Guildford train station.
New House needed plumbing and electrics set up in order for an espresso machine to be installed - so we have had a lot of work to do and we still have a lot of work ahead of us. Having been unexpectedly closed since the middle of June, we have a lost a lot of income and have struggled to get the cafe back up off the ground again.
To us, Koja has always been about bringing people together and creating a sense of community in our town. We feel it part of our role as an independent business. We want to be a destination in your day. A place that you visit to get some energy - not just from the caffeine we serve you - but from the neighbourhood spirit you find there and the people you meet while in there.
More and more shops are closing on the high street each day and prices are continuing to rise. We’ve seen fellow independent businesses not make it out the other side of the pandemic and we’re determined for that not to be the case for Koja.
We are asking our customers, friends and community for support. We want to continue to serve you the best coffee in Guildford and build the business into offering you much more than that in future years.
We are offering a number of rewards in exchange for pledges. We are extremely grateful for anything anyone is able to pledge.
Thank you for your love and continued support <3 you have no idea how grateful we are!
